What the score is telling you

An 85 is a confident recommendation, and the reviews behind it were written by people who finished the game. It is a statement about the quality of the whole thing, from someone who saw all of it.

What the completion rate is telling you

Something different, and not what people usually assume. It is not a verdict on quality — plenty of well-reviewed story games sit here days after launch, because the denominator is everyone who bought it, including the many who have not started. 84.8% of owners have finished the opening chapter, which sets the ceiling for everything after it.

The part that is worth your attention is the shape rather than the level. The curve does not fall evenly; it falls hardest between chapter 4 and chapter 5. A game people abandon at a consistent trickle is a game that is long. A game with one steep step is a game with a wall in it.

Who this will land for

  • You liked Innocence or Requiem. This is the same studio, the same engine and the same world, moved to Crete and made more combat-forward. The parry and the Focus attack are new weight in a series that used to be mostly about avoidance.
  • You want a story you will actually finish. Fourteen chapters is a real commitment. The funnel is the honest preview of how that tends to go.
  • You are a completionist. Know what you are signing up for: every collectible set is completed by fewer people than finish the story, and the relics are split across two timelines.
