How far players actually get

Thirteen of the fourteen chapters award an achievement the moment you finish them, and Steam publishes the share of owners who hold each one. Read in order, those thirteen numbers are a completion curve for the whole game, measured rather than estimated.

The three things this curve shows

Half the players are gone by chapter 4

84.8% of owners clear the opening chapter — which already means a noticeable share never start at all — and the line crosses below half at From Hell It Rose. Nothing about that chapter is unusually punishing on its own. It is simply where the ordinary attrition of a story game has accumulated far enough to show.

The steepest single fall is chapter 4 to 5

That step loses 33% of the players who reached it, the largest proportional drop anywhere in the game. Worth knowing before you get there, and worth re-checking later: this page recomputes which step is steepest every time the data moves, so if the wall shifts as more people play, the sentence you are reading shifts with it.

Finishing puts you in a small group

6.2% of owners have cleared every chapter, about one in sixteen. For a fourteen-chapter story game a few days after launch that is unremarkable — the interesting part is what happens to the number from here, because two forces pull it in opposite directions.

Where these numbers come from

Steam exposes the global unlock rate for every achievement in every game, without a key and without an account. For this game that is thirty-six figures, thirteen of which correspond to chapter completions. The full method, including how the chapter mapping was established, is on the sources page.

One limit worth stating plainly: this is Steam only. PlayStation and Xbox players are not in it, and neither are Game Pass players unless they also own it on Steam. There is no reason to think those audiences behave very differently, but this page cannot show you that they don’t.
